Gate 1: The Creative – The Gate of Self-Expression

Human Design Gate 1 holds the deep need to express yourself authentically. It is the desire within you, to be YOU.

It’s all about expressing yourself as the unique and creative individual you are, unconcerned with the opinions of others.

So many of us go through life attempting to avoid judgment. We put on metaphorical masks and try to fit in. The irony, however, is that when you simply live true to yourself, you put out a powerful energy of attraction. People become drawn to you because they too want to live a life that is more expressive and more true. They may not always consciously admit it, but this is how the energy works. It is through living life as the most authentic version of yourself that you have the greatest impact on those around you. You inspire and empower others to do the same.

It’s so darn beautiful.

Gate 1 is also where we hold the stories we tell about ourselves.

Here we find the words, “I am” – the two most powerful words in the English language.

You probably say the words “I am” at least a few times each day. What most people don’t realize is that their “I am” statements serve as the narration of their life story.

Every time you utter the words “I am” together with whatever follows you send out a signal, just like a magnet, and call forth that exact energy.

With every “I am” you are quite literally writing each chapter of your life story.

Do you need to start “rewriting” your story?

Here are some common examples rephrased:

“I am tired” versus “I am feeling tired right now.”
“I am stressed” versus “I am having a stressful day today.”
“I am always attracting unavailable partners” versus “I am deserving of love.”
“I am all alone” versus “I am divinely loved.”
“I am lost” versus “I know I am always on the right path.”

Sometimes, you just need to take the “I am” out of the sentence entirely because it’s not actually who you are, rather the situation you’re in…

“I am a mess” versus “Things feel messy in my personal life at the moment.”

Our words are powerful. More powerful than most people realize. They create our future.
